Irresponsible Captain Tylor captures the best elements of classic science fiction humor with some original twists. The series of 26 episodes has a well connected trajectory. Only a few episodes have pointless filer. Fortunately, the writers left the put a question to “Is Tylor a hidden genius, a lucky idiot, or (perhaps) a bit of both? ” unresolved. The result is a surprisingly satifying conclusion.

In the finest tradition of place opera, the laws of phyics are cheerfully ignored. My personal celebrated is the flag waiving on the bows of the destroyer Soyokaze in deep state. (The emblem on the flag appears to be a tomato.)

The music is magnificent, with a mix of cheery pop and light jazz. One later episode contains a lengthy station battle choreographed to classical music that is a tour de force.

Short review: This is a really, really fun exhibit. The misfit crew of the Soyokaze are among the most memorable characters ever to grace Japanese animation. One of those shows that you honest don’t want to peek approach to an kill.

I’m not unprejudiced rating this one DVD. You might as well assume the entire series because it’s titanic. The animation is awesome and the record is touching. If I said “this DVD wasn’t all that immense” it wouldn’t matter. If you didn’t catch this DVD and bought all the rest because they received better reviews, you’d wind up buying this one anyways. It’s pointless to have an incomplete state, plus there are tons of goodies to witness… Impartial buy’em all. You won’t regret it.

Compact, Great Deal, Fast Performance
At the “FastNormal” setting, the print quality is close to LASER quality while the speed is incredible. I upgraded from a Canon BJC-4000 that has pumped out thousands of pages for me since 1994 and has put me through grade school, high school, and a 4 year engineering university. If it (the BJC-4000) were a live person, I’d buy it a six-pack - so it doesn’t come easy for me to say that the 3650 is a big step up from the BJC-4000.

I have not put the 3650 through any longevity tests, but installation, performance, and quality are superb. I ran into zero problems installing it on an XP Pro SP-1 PC, and didn’t run into any problems sharing the printer over a LAN.

I did run into an annoyance:
When printing with just the black cartridge installed, it would always tell me that I’m missing the color cartridge.

Also whenever the printer attempts to clear the print head, it would blow out a huge wad of ink onto the pad on the left side of the printer. Each HP #27 cartridge is only 10mL (the BJC-4000’s BC-20 was 22mL and would last me approximately 1000-1500 pages at draft quality text) so each drop that it wastes costs me a few dozen pages.

You must install the drivers FIRST before connecting the printer to your PC via USB. I’ve tested this printer on my Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop and my self-built AMD XP 2100+ PC. Both use Windows XP Pro. The printer also works flawlessly over a LAN.

After several weeks of testing I’d like to add the “X” button on the printer is a true godsend - it’s for cancelling print jobs. Rather than going to the Control Panel to manually cancel a job, hitting that button stops the job and clears it from the queue w/o any problems over a LAN.

Also if you print over a LAN and the printer is OFF, it will turn on by itself. This is a big plus because I don’t always have the luxury of working at the PC where the printer is physically installed.

The only complaints I have is that the paper loading mechanism sounds like someone banging on plastic pots and pans - it’s very very loud!! Also it tends to gobble ink cartridge fluid rather quickly but it prints faster than the HP Laserjet V I have at work, and with the quality set at NORMAL or FastNormal, it rivals that of laser printers.

Overall I give it 5 stars out of 5 - if you know how to properly install USB devices on PCs then you’ll get it to work. I wouldn’t recommend installing it on an older PC that isn’t running Windows 2000 or XP.

UPDATE: After using it for a longer period of time, I did in fact notice that the small ink cartridge capacity limits its maximum time for operation in an office environment.

The cost is not an issue since I found a bulk supplier of ink refills that would save me a bundle. What was important was the ease of changing cartridges (pull the lid and the cartridge holder comes into changing position) and the quality of printing w/ non-standard ink.

Make sure you clean the cartridge if you start to see lines in the print out. I noticed a strip of dried ink on the head unit and cleaned that off with some water and a tissue.

Overall the printer is STILL exceeding my expectations.

My impression of this printer:
Low price, Hewlett Packard quality + reliability.

Fine Printer for the Price
This is a good printer for the price. It has a low, unobtrusive profile. It’s fairly quite, and has a fairly average print speed. Black text is nice, and photo printing is very, very good.

This uses three cartridges: “27″ which is a dedicated black, “28″ which is dedicated color, and “58″ which is a mixed color/black used for printing photographs. Unfortunately, you have to remove the black to use the photo cartridge. The whole process takes several minutes, so this is a poor choice for someone intending to do a lot of mixed black and high-quality color printing.

I do not recommend doing any sort of quality image printing without the photo cartridge. I printed the same image using just the black and color cartridges, and then with the color and photo cartridge. The difference was incredible. In the first image, a tree trunk looked like a solid dark-brown smudge. The leaves were a solid green with brown smudges, and a bird house looked like a drop of blue ink somehow fell on the page. After printing it with the photo cartridge, everything was very clear and nice, but a bit too light. I reprinted it for a third time on photo paper and the result was indistinguishable from a real photograph. The colors were vivid, and every detail was clearly visible.

The power adapter is bulky, and could easily block your outlets, so make certain you have room before buying this. Also, this connects to the computer using a USB cable, which is not included.

This uses ink fairly rapidly, so someone who intends to do a lot of printing should look elsewhere. For someone who will only print occasionally, and is tech. savvy enough to swap cartridges on a regular basis, this is a fine printer for the money.

Good printer for the money.
This is a very good printer for the money. It’s very fast in Draft mode but more surprising is how good the black and white print quality is in Draft. In the Normal and Best mode I can hardly tell the difference between the 3650 and my Laserjet 6L. Others have commented on my two major complaints: (a) the “hidden” cost of the USB cable you have to buy separately and much worse (b) the VERY short life of the print cartridges. My first black ink cartridge only lasted a few weeks with only moderate use. Plan on finding an ink refill kit if you plan to use this baby much. One other nuisance; if you run out of ink the last document can get “stuck” in the printer without printing and XP won’t let you cancel it. It’s stuck there until you replace the cartridge.

‘Noir’ was my introduction into Anime, and I have been curved on genre it ever since. The artwork is astounding, the music is mesmerizing, and the tell actors (both the fresh Japanese AND the English dub) are perfectly gracious for the characters. This collection transcends anime - it is a presentation that anyone can delight in.

Which brings me to the fable itself. It is spread out over 26 episodes [each approximately 21-23 minutes long), and it plays like one 11+ hour long movie. With that eminent, it can feel ’slow’ in some areas (especially early on) - stick with it during those ’slow’ areas, because every line, every flashback, adds to the overall building of a story-line that crescendos into a elegant finale. By the closing episode, you’ll not only be gratified with the conclusion - you’ll wish it had never ended.

Be advised, however - if you are one of those who lives only for anime that is chock-full of mecha and fan service, you will be disappointed. You will acquire no giant robots or random panty-shots in this anime, which is one of the things that I secure so spicy about it.

If you are a person like myself, someone who enjoys action-adventure presentations that are stale and character-driven, I highly recommend ‘Noir’ - whether you are an anime fan or not.

Noir is truly a vast and “out of the ordinary” type of anime worth watching. It is sharp to mention that the memoir has a sexy touch and at times little lesbian moments (oh yeah!!) .

The account starts with a young comely assassin for hire called Mireille Bouquet, who’s mysteriously contacted by another shapely and even younger girl called Kirika Yumura, who’s skills as assassin surpasses by far those of Mireille. Kirika needs Mireille’s attend to reveal her past because she is amnesic, as they try to work together; a mysterious organization is trying to waste them both. Cramped they both Kirika and Merielle know that their shaded past have a lot in celebrated and that the organization trying to raze them (the Soldats) is also fraction of their past.

As they try to survive and try to recount the mystery of the Soldats, both girls inaugurate to examine how entwined their past is and how their survival and future depends on uncovering the truth. Its beauty relies on the fact that at times is rather plain paced (some hard core anime fans can not stand that) . Nothing execrable with the tiring, jog, this adds to the complexity of the 11+ hours, 7-volume myth that develops and builds to a astronomical climax and outcome. The uninteresting parts happen when they are off work, sometimes the seem to be contemplating the sparkling views of the French countryside, visiting cafes and fashion shops, or at times they search for at each other in a conspicuous manner for no other reason that to know what are they thinking.

The fable also has its like a flash paced times with lots of action, as the girls do their assassinations in a wintry and calculated manner.

The music is superb; it is very rare to gaze an anime with such proper music. Not only the music is colossal, but it also fits the expressionless and the hasty sage parts to such extent that it brings the overall anime experience to unexpected heights. This 7 DVD volume collection (as well as the 2CD soundtrack) is a keeper and I highly recommend it!!

Richard Boone stars as Paladin in this six-disk dvd station of the first season of HAVE GUN, WILL Proceed (1957-1958) .

CBS broadcast an unbelievable thirty-nine episodes that first season, each episode lasting 23 to 25 minutes. Most episodes open with the spiffily dressed Paladin (we’re never given a last name) scouring the thick stacks newspapers brought to him by the ever honorable Hey Boy (Kam Tong), bellboy at Paladin’s site, the Carlton Hotel in San Francisco. Eventually Paladin reads of a missing child in Colorado, or a rash of robberies occurring in Montana. Paladin slips his business card - a chess knight with the sage Have Gun, Will Recede, Wire Paladin, San Francisco - into an envelope and mails it to the injured party.

Slowly enough as we wend our contrivance through the first year we learn something of Paladin. He has a passion for justice and a taste for the sterling things. His going rate is $1000, although he will buy on a pro bono job if the cause is impartial. In town he dresses to the nines and in sundry other ways consumes conspicuously. When traveling with a gun he dresses in shaded. Somewhere along the line he picked up a military education, quotes Shakespeare and Pliny, savors a first-edition of Dryden. His taste in and knowledge of splendid wines is commented upon in a couple of episodes….

I don’t know if any of this matters, but going through fifteen hours of HGWT over a week or so it’s kind of fun to have an aha moment or two. Paladin is an enigma, and Boone, a microscopic more credible as the gunslinger than the city dandy, was an inspired choice to play him. Boone has a commanding presence and, absorb me when I drawl you buckaroos, was pleasing darn rapidly on the design.

Twenty-three minutes is a aesthetic tight box to fit a action epic in, which might define why we don’t slay a whole lot of time on Paladin’s backstory. Of course, the storytelling is made a lot easier when you think the talent alive to. The talent rundown has to initiate with Boone, who was nominated Best Leading Actor as Paladin in 1959 and 1960. The tremendous majority of the first season episodes were directed by action weak Andrew McLaglen (son of actor Victor McLaglen), although a couple were helmed by Oscar winning director Lewis Milestone. The talent in front of the camera was as formidable as that tedious. McLaglen simply wasn’t getting around very briskly and it’s a cramped painful to discover. Another major movie star fares noteworthy better. Charles Bronson wasn’t established yet, but he plays a robber who more or less forces Paladin into a gunfighting showdown in an episode that paints fatal violence as both regrettable and, sometimes, unavoidable. Strother Martin (Icy Hand Luke) appears in two episodes, once as an unscrupulous frontier lawyer and earlier in a more affecting role as a high wire walker who’d lost his nerve somewhere along the map. Warren Oates plays one of the poor offspring in a truncated prefer on King Lear.

That’s fair the beginning. Future television stars appear in almost every episode. Pernell Roberts and Dan Blocker (Bonanza) appear as scruffy tough guys in relatively miniature roles in separate episodes. Jack Lord (Hawaii 5-0) is a cowardly kidnapper. June Lockhart (Lassie, Lost In Position) appears twice as a frontier doctor. Angie Dickinson (Police Woman) plays a young woman whose brother was murdered and threatens to incite a lynch mob. Mike Connors (Mannix) plays a cattle rustling dreadful guy in one of the early episodes.

Okay, I’m enthusing here. Calm haven’t got to the best stuff. What gave me the biggest kick was watching the people I’d never heard of. Peter Whitney, who the intro blurb that precedes each episode tells us made a film career out of playing slow-witted tremendous guys and menacing gigantic guys, plays a mentally challenged ranch hand who’s goaded into placing a burr under boss’s Stuart Whitman’s saddle, with dire consequences, in “The Last Laugh.” The petite B-western star Bob Steele plays a bent mine boss in “The High Graders” - the Wire Paladin blurb tells us Steele had developed a expeditiously procedure during his B-career, which McLaglen pays homage to in a plot down between his character and Paladin. My accepted discovery, though, has to be Marian Seldes, a great actress who is featured in two episodes. First as a mail order bride who Paladin escorts to her modern home in “The Bride” and later as a runt town teacher who the local bullies try to intimidate in “The Teacher.”

Very strongly recommended, especially for fans of obsolete westerns.

Richard Boone was one of the most natural actors ever to grace the cover. Apt guys, dreadful guys, he did them all with such a grace and ease that he made it seem so effortless. Paladin was a product of the post-Civil War. A West Point Graduate, he was an educated man, a man who appreciated literature, opera, culture. So it was not surprising he settled in San Franscisco after the war. Though a man of refinement, he made his living by hiring his gun out to those in need. He passed his itsy-bitsy cards around - “Have Gun, Will Fade. Wire Paladin, San Fransisco” and waited for clients to derive him.

While a cultured man, he was honest as comfortable in the deadly knight errant persona, the man in shaded. Boone excelled at making you hold both sides could exist within one man. While he was a hired gun, he often spent more time talking to people making them listen to reason.

A loved all these Westerns. Have enjoyed the reruns on TVLand, Starz Westerns, and the Hallmark Channel. But so many of the used Westerns don’t occupy up well. I was surprised how well Rawhide and Have Gun, Will Depart beget their quality. So these are a desirable addition to any video maven’s collection. Sadly, I don’t judge Boone ever got the apt recognition his talent deserved, but those of us who appreciated him can now leer his talent shine.

Everything I wanted and needed in a camera
I am no expert when it comes to photography but enjoy taking good pictures of my family and friends. I have kids in sports and I like to take my own pictures for picture giving. I read many reviews (for hours) on various cameras and endet up with this one here. I first was going to get the DSC-H50 (one step up from the DSC-H20). When I went to the store to buy it, however, it was to large for my taste. It was to big to fit in a pants pocket and even for my small purse it was quite large. Here are the main reasons why this camera is awesome!

This camera here is not as compact as your typical slim camera (due to the 10x zoom), but it is small enough to fit in a purse or even a jacket/pants pocket if need be.

This camera has a burst mode so you can hold down the shutter and the camera will take numerous pictures, thus making it ideal for action shots. I took it to a Volleyball tournament and got unbelievable shots of my daughter serving and hitting! I cought her in mid air more then a few times…just what I had hoped for. I also took pictures at a track meet and got kids jumping hurdles…the pictures look almost like magazine shots!

This camera is extremely easy to use in the easy and auto adjust mode! It tells you everything on the screen. You can start shooting pretty much right away…it’s that easy! The manual is good to have for reference and questions and if you really want to get to know your camera.

The zoom is great and plenty! I took pictures from the mezzanine onto the Volleyball courts and could get nice close up shots! 10x is plenty for me!

The battery life is also impressive, as long as you keep your screen on a regular bright setting. First I had it set to “bright” and the battery didn’t do well. Then I set it to normal and it lasts a long time. I took about 150 shots and not a single bar was missing from the battery!

It has a rechargebale battery so you don’t have to keep buying regular batteries. Also, it does say that you can get a international charger so the battery charger can be plugged in anywhere in the world. (Still have to get that myself). What a nice option.

The quality of the pictures is also great! I took a team photo and my daughter took it to a practice to show the others. They choose the picture to use in a frame as a gift to the coaches. It turned out so good and all I did was push a button!

When shooting pictures, it has a option for the file size you select. If you know you want to email pictures, or for example if you sell on eBay and want to download pictures onto the ebay site, you select the small file size and shoot pictures that way for working with them online. For pictures that you use for portraits for example, you choose a larger file (pixels I guess), and that way it does not distort the picture when you enlarge it. That is also extremely easy to figure out!

Last but not least…I plugged it into my pc with the supplied USB cord and retrieved the photos the same way I always did in the past. I have not yet added the picture cd that came with it, but my guess is that it will work very good. I also took the 2GB SD card to Wal mart and made nice prints (you have to purchase the pro duo stick seperate…look for the “Sony pro-Duo Stick” cost about $13-$15). The 2 GB is plenty for me, I think it holds about 400 pictures).

Great camera…I have not found a flaw yet!

After much research and trying out a few cameras (Panasonic Zs1 being its main competitor) I am settling for this sony H20. The picture quality in the H20 was just much more clear. The Panasonic Lumix Zs1 had inconsistent performance and I found some pictures to be very grainy and unpleasing. I was lured in by the Panasonic’s wide angle lens and several scene selection modes, but in the end none of those matter if your picture is grainy and not of printable quality. The biggest positive about this camera is its consistently good picture quality and performance. I took this camera with me to Southeast Asia and was able to get good pictures out of a moving car and at all zooms both indoors and outdoors. I was able to get some stunning pics with the lumix but only at times and for each good pic I had about 20 bad ones, and when your traveling or trying to capture a moment you just don’t have time to shoot 20-30 frames to get a good one. For this Sony camera to be truly perfect I really wish it had a wide angle lens, a panoramic assist function (like the Sony HX1 which is much bigger and not much better pic quality but the panoramic function is incredible), a more compact design with a built in lens cap and flash so the cap doesn’t pop off every time you take a picture. I looked and looked for the perfect camera and with those added features this would be it, but for now I will settle for this camera and hopefully sony will add those functions and improve this camera in its next upgrade. If you are looking for a compact travel camera that is several steps up from the normal 3x zoom and takes consistently good crisp pictures in various settings I would recommend this camera. It is not nearly as bulky as DSLRs making it a very easy travel companion, and it takes better pics than the other competing cameras in its range as well as some mega zoom cameras.

UPDATE: November 2009-
Before I left on my trip to Turkey and Europe I ended up purchasing another camera, the Canon Sx10is. This camera was more expensive and bigger both things I was initially trying to fight against, but I am so glad I went for this extra investment because the pictures I have been able to take on my trip (panoramic and regular) have come out absolutely stunning, all on auto setting, and using the panoramic assist function. It is a little bulkier then the sony but it still fits in my purse and the results in the pic quality are incredible.I figure I will probably not come back to these places and get the opportunity to take stunning pics again, so the slightly more money and bulk ended up being no bother when I will have very memorable pictures to look back on my trips. Look for my review and uploaded pics on the canon powershot page. If you can afford it and can take slightly more bulk, this camera ended up being the ultimate winner for me, and was everything I was trying to force the sony to be. I wanted to offer this option to those who are looking for something a little more then the sony has to offer. check out this canon before deciding.

I bought this camera for a two week trip I was about to take. I also purchased an extra extended battery and an 8GB memory card for the camera. The main reason I purchased the camera was for its ability to take pictures quickly. I looked through consumer reports and this one was one of the top rated cameras. The cost is very good for this quality camera. I could take a picture withing a couple of seconds after turning the camera on and I could take a picture again less than a second later. This camera also has great battery life. Even if you just use the included battery, you can still get around 3-400 pictures (assuming you are not using flash). The zoom on the camera is great. It is a 10x optical zoom and additional 7x digital zoom. This gives you the power of a 17x zoom. If you take your picture at 17x zoom, you can then zoom in on your picture another 8x under the “review your pictures” menu. This camera is also small enough to fit into a small over the shoulder camera bag. It fit into my old camera bag that I used to have a small Olympus camera in. I recommend this camera for ages 16 and up. It is a great camera that it comparable to any SLR camera. I think it is better than a SLR because it is so much smaller than any SLR you could purchase.

I was barely a tween when I saw this film on TV in the early 1980’s. I mild assume making a mental trace of how hot the leading man was (at that time Mel Gibson was yet to become a household name) . And so, I could not resist this occupy, especially given the shameful impress of the DVD.

Well, Mel Gibson is quiet hot (in the movie; in true life, not so distinguished) ; Piper Laurie - piping HOT! (who knew!? that woman had some body on her!) ; the tale - as sugar sweet as I remembered it…The fable must have been trully revolutionary by the 1970’s standards: a mentally dead man in his 20’s and an educated and independent woman in her 40’s descend in care for. Though its telling is a bit stiff and naive, the questions the epic raises are relevant to any novel couple (mainly: can a relationship work, when the control is so steeply tipped toward the female? ) . Since I am not aware of many of such parings in proper life, I am distinct this admire myth may smooth produce some depressed. Nonetheless, I devour it for the uplifting legal which teaches us that like conquers all and is above the judgement of those outside of the two people enthusiastic. Not always so in right life, but that is precisely what movies are for!

Made the same year as Angry Max Wrathful Max (Special Edition) burst on the scene, Tim is based on a myth by Colleen McCullough The Thornbirds about a May-December relationship between a 40-something professional woman (Piper Laurie) and her 23-year worn mentally tiny but hunky yardboy (Mel Gibson) . The site is wonderful of the Lifetime channel but Ms. Laurie and Mr. Gibson are really amazing and the supporting cast which includes respected Australian actors Alwyn Kurts and Pat Evison transcends the simplistic and slightly pervey script.

This film was made so expeditiously and cheaply, I don’t possess they even did second takes. Happily, the 30th anniversary edition has been remastered so it is a definite and watchable print and re-edited to include a couple of deleted scenes.

Of course, the precise attractions are Gibson’s ravishing blue eyes, cute accent and his character’s charming innocence. The director shamelessly (yes!) exploits hot young Mel’s physical attributes by requiring him to compose most scenes in very short shorts or wear skimpy blue swim trunks to the beach (while Piper is practically clad a burka!) and he looks quite shapely in a white dress suit in one pivotal scene. His arresting performance here makes one unlit to mediate the buffoon into which he has evolved.

Time Saver
I recently switched over to shooting RAW (7-9 meg a shot) instead of jpeg (2-4 meg a shot) so I got myself an 8Gig Extreme III card and this reader. I have used many readers in the past, but nothing has even come close to this speed before.

I can put over 1,000 RAW files or about 4,000 jpegs on the card and then transfer them all over to my computer in just a few minutes instead of closer to a half-hour or more. It seems to average around 1Gig a minute.

It is also pretty small so you can travel with it easily. However, if your notebook PC has a 4 pin firewire connection, like many do, this will not work. Firewire needs 6 pin or higher to be able to power devices. I e-mailed SanDisk several times about this and they just gave me the run-around, so I did the research on my own to find this out. So if anyone knows of a way around this please let me know because based on what I saw it is not possible.

Don’t blame Sandisk…blame Microsoft.
I wanted to take advantage of 1394B 800MB Firewire on my Windows XP PC so I bought a Firewire 800 card. However, I was not able to achieve the dramatic transfer speeds that others do. After researching, I found out that Microsoft CRIPPLED Firewire in Windows XP SP2! It is limited to 100MB. They provide a fix but you have to look for it by searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base MSKB for “firewire” and you will find the patch to download. You may also have to edit your registry.
Why did this happen and why has it not been fixed? Why doesn’t Sandisk warn us about it? Who knows, but I hope this information helps you.

It truly IS extreme
Now THIS is an upgrade! After getting a new digital camera I had been using the USB cable to transfer images to my Mac G4 MDD. I knew it would be slow, but what the hey. With the USB cable I was getting about 750-800Kb per second transfer rate. With the Sandisk Extreme reader I now get 33MB per second! YEEOWZA! This thing flies like the wind! 400MB of files blasted onto the hard drive in seconds! It was so fast I had to laugh like a madman. What more could you ask for, you plug the thing it, it mounts right up; no software to install or anything (not sure about the Windows world, though) and it copies files off the card like greased lightning. If you are impatient and\or value your time this little thing gets the job done. Your progress bars will actually make progress!
